Overview
The house of the culture researcher, and Franciscan priest Father Shtjefën Gjeçovi was built in the second half of the 19th century, and in 1874, Shtjefën was born in this house, who is known among many other works for “materialization” (collection) of the Albanian moral code – the Canon of Lekë Dukagjini.
The building is located on sloping ground, on an irregularly shaped plot, where the house is oriented towards the road, and on the inner side there is a yard and a well. Initially, in the rear part of the yard, there was also an accompanying building that was used as a stable cradle, which has now been demolished. Based on the typology, materials, and construction technique, the houses are assumed to have been built during the second half of the 19th century.
